Keep Breage Green

The village of Breage has always been surrounded by beautiful green fields and at its heart are three fields, one of which is now a children's play area. We think that the remaining two fields should stay as much needed green space.

These fields are part of a green triangle at the heart of the small Cornish village of Breage; which is within a Conservation Area and a Mining World Heritage Site. The fields are a green backdrop to the Grade I listed Church of St Breaca, after whom the village gets its name.

Many of the residents approve of the idea of a wildflower meadow. We have the support of Cornwall Wildlife Trust in this venture and aim to establish a wildflower meadow in accordance with their guidelines; this would also be a sanctuary for butterflies, bees and other wildlife.

The important thing to remember is that these precious green fields have remained the same for centuries and we want to protect them for future generations. They are an essential breathing space at the heart of the village.

We are fund raising with the aim of purchasing the fields in Higher Road. We are asking for pledges to cover the purchase cost and legal fees.

Keep Breage Green is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation, set up in March 2016.

Our objects are to promote for the benefit of the public the conservation protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment in Breage by the establishment and maintenance of a wildflower meadow.
